Commerzbank defiant as UniCredit expected to make formal takeover bid

Frankfurt (dpa) - Germany's Commerzbank remained defiant on Monday hours before shareholders of Italian lender UniCredit were due to vote on a required capital increase needed for a planned takeover of the German bank. Commerzbank's deputy chairman of the board, Michael Kotzbauer, told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper that UniCredit's plans were aimed at "dismantling" the German lender "without paying our shareholders any compensation......
