German artist Georg Baselitz dies aged 88

Vienna (dpa) - German painter and sculptor Georg Baselitz has died at the age of 88, his gallery confirmed on Thursday, citing the artist's family. Baselitz was often described as a "rage artist." His motto in life was Contradiction. Baselitz even turned the laws of nature on their head: he painted upside down, with feet and roots at the top and heads and treetops at the bottom.
