The cofounder and onetime leader of Mexico's powerful Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generacion (CJNG) cartel, Erick Valencia-Salazar, pled guilty to narcotics charges in a US court, the Department of Justice said Tuesday. Known as "El 85," 49-year-old Valencia-Salazar was first captured in Mexico in 2012, freed, and then captured again in 2022.
