Japan said Wednesday it was "regrettable" that a member of the Japanese military broke into the Chinese embassy in Tokyo, after Beijing expressed shock over the incident. The break-in has further soured relations between Beijing and Tokyo that have suffered since comments by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi about the self-ruled island of Taiwan.
