MOSCOW, March 24 (RIA Novosti) - A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck southwest of the coast of the island country of Tonga in the southern Pacific Ocean, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) said on Tuesday. The earthquake hit at 04:37 GMT, 158 kilometers (98 miles) west-southwest of Neiafu, a city of about 6,000 residents, the seismologists said. Its epicenter lay at a depth of 218 kilometers.
