Italian billionaire John Elkann has struck a preliminary agreement for the sale of leading daily La Stampa to a regional media group, the companies said on Wednesday. The announcement comes after weeks of industrial action at Elkann's Exor Group over concerns about possible job cuts at La Stampa and La Repubblica, a leftist daily which is also being sold off.
