Spring Festival holiday fuels consumption boom in east China's Shanghai

SHANGHAI, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai's consumer economy opened the Year of the Horse at a gallop, with holiday spending climbing notably, according to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce. From Feb. 15 to 22, spanning eight days of the nine-day Spring Festival holiday, the metropolis in east China logged 60.35 billion yuan (about 8.69 billion U.S. dollars) in combined online and offline spending, up 12.8 percent from a year earlier.......
