German property prices up 4.2% in 2025, expected to climb further

Frankfurt (dpa) - German residential property prices rose by 4.2% on average in 2025, double the increase seen in the previous year, according to new figures released on Tuesday. Prices for homes in major cities including Berlin, Cologne and Munich jumped by 4.7% on average, with Frankfurt leading the pack with 5.7%, according to the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (vdp), which represents the most important mortgage banks in Germany.
