The Islamic State (IS) group has claimed responsibility for an attack on Niger's main airport this week, an organisation that monitors jihadist group communications said on Friday. Shortly after midnight on Thursday, assailants attacked Diori Hamani International Airport in the capital, Niamey, with residents reporting shooting and explosions until calm was restored about an hour later.
