U.S. chemicals giant Dow to cut 4,500 jobs in shift toward AI, automation

NEW YORK, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- U.S. chemicals giant Dow announced Thursday that it plans to cut around 4,500 jobs as part of a major restructuring effort to shift its emphasis toward artificial intelligence and automation. The workforce reduction affects roughly 13 percent of the company's around 34,600 global employees, and is part of a new initiative dubbed "Transform to Outperform."
