Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, 80, will undergo surgery on Friday to treat a cataract in his left eye, his government said. Lula underwent "pre-surgery checks" on Thursday morning, and the surgery will take place on Friday, the Brazilian presidency said in a statement.
