KEETMANSHOOP, 05 JAN (NAMPA) – An 18-year-old victim was allegedly raped by a 20-year-old suspect at Aussenkehr’s Block Five area, ||Kharas region, in the early hours of Friday.
A weekend crime report by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Sunday indicated that the incident reportedly happened at about 03h00, while the victim was asleep at a friend’s room, after a night out.
It is alleged that the suspect undressed the victim and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Karasburg magistrate’s court.
A similar incident was recorded at Aroab’s Sonop location on Thursday, after a 34-year-old male suspect reportedly raped a 32-year-old woman while she was asleep.
“The victim and her boyfriend reportedly went home from a shebeen and slept with the door open due to the heat. The victim woke up after feeling someone on top of her at around 04h00. At first, the victim thought it was her boyfriend, but witnessed him lying behind her, and the suspect jumped off from her and fled,” the report read.
The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop magistrate's court.
At Oranjemund, a 49-year-old woman was reportedly raped by a 24-year-old male suspect while escorting her to her destination between 04h00 and 05h00 on Saturday.
“On their way, the suspect started asking the complainant to hug and kiss him as a thank you for walking her halfway, and when she refused, he then pushed and pulled her and dragged her to a house in the Crest location, before forcefully raping her, while making death threats”, the report read.
Both the victim and suspect were transported to the Lüderitz State Hospital for medical examination and completion of a rape kit, after which the suspect was arrested.
