U.S. dollar closes flat

NEW YORK, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar closed almost flat in late trading on Wednesday. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.001 percent to 97.941 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT). In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.1775 dollars from 1.179 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.3496 dollars from 1.3497 dollars in the previous session.
