German archive secures previously unknown Goethe letter at auction

Erfurt, Germany (dpa) - The Goethe and Schiller Archive based in the German city of Weimar announced on Thursday that it had acquired at auction a previously unknown letter and other material written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. "We are very happy that we have been able to secure such highly important testimonies from Weimar's classical period for the public and for subsequent generations," archive director Christian Hain said in a statement.
