Renewable energy forms 56% of German electricity in 2025, study finds

Berlin (dpa) - Renewable energies have covered more than half of Germany's electricity consumption in 2025, a report found on Wednesday. The projection - made by the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) and the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) - found that renewable energies covered 55.8% of gross electricity consumption this year, up from 55.1% in 2024.
