A court in eastern Ukraine's Russian-occupied Lugansk has jailed a Czech-Vietnamese national for 13 years on mercenary charges for fighting for Ukraine, prosecutors said Wednesday. Courts in Russia and Russian-occupied Ukraine prosecute captured foreign fighters as "mercenaries" -- a charge that carries up to 15 years in prison -- rather than treating them as prisoners of war with Geneva Convention protections.
