Officer fires after being hit by car during traffic stop in Germany

Frankfurt (dpa) - A police officer in central Germany fired his weapon at a driver after the 29-year-old struck him with his car during a traffic stop, authorities said late on Wednesday. Both men sustained serious injuries in the incident, which occurred on Wednesday evening in the town of Asslar, about 60 kilometres north-west of Frankfurt in the state of Hesse.
