German housing approvals rise again, but sector remains cautious

Frankfurt (dpa) - The number of housing permits in Germany rose again in August, government data showed on Friday, offering a glimmer of hope amid the country's housing shortage and rising rents. Authorities approved the construction of 19,300 new residential units last month, up 5.7% or 1,000 units from a year earlier, the Federal Statistical Office said.
