Germany urges tighter visa rules for Russian citizens

Brussels (dpa) - As part of ongoing EU planning for a new Russia sanctions package, Germany is pushing for stricter rules on Schengen visa issuance to Russian citizens, according to a government position paper obtained by dpa. The paper calls for full implementation of 2022 European Commission guidelines, which aimed to limit the issuing of visas to Russian citizens for tourist travel or shopping trips to EU countries.
