Germany records jump in new businesses despite tough climate

Frankfurt (dpa) - More people in Germany are striking out on their own despite a challenging economic climate, government data released on Friday showed. In the first half of 2025, around 67,600 "businesses of significant economic importance" were founded, according to the Federal Statistical Office, marking a 9.4% increase compared with the same period last year.
