Millions of Shiites Arrive in Iraq on Arbaeen Religious Pilgrimage

NAJAF, August 11 (RIA Novosti) - Millions of Shiite Muslims gathered in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala in Iraq on Monday to make the Arbaeen pilgrimage to the shrine of a prominent imam, Husayn ibn Ali, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported. Police checks have been stepped up on transportation and at the arrival points to screen the pilgrims in Najaf. Black flags have been on display throughout the city in remembrance of the imam's death.......
