European stocks close weak on tariff concerns, weak earnings updates

Frankfurt (dpa-AFX) - European stocks closed weak on Wednesday as concerns about tariffs and reports that US President Donald Trump will sack Fed Chair Jerome Powell sometime soon, hurt sentiment. Investors also digested a slew of corporate earnings updates that fell short of expectations. Disappointing updates from chipmaker ASML Holdings and French auto major Renault hurt sentiment.
