Germany's Zimmermann abandons Tour de France after crash

Châteauroux, France (dpa) - German road race champion Georg Zimmermann withdrew from the Tour de France on Monday in the wake of a nasty crash the previous day. Zimmermann's Intermarché team said that the decision was taken ahead of a demanding stage with an altitude gain of 4,450 metres on Bastille Day Monday.
