The election of Pope Leo XIV is a posthumous victory for his predecessor Francis and the Chicago-born pontiff will follow in his footsteps on many issues, an expert told AFP Thursday. Francois Mabille, a researcher at the Paris-based think tank IRIS and author of a book on Vatican strategy, said Leo might speak out in a more cautious way than Francis.
