Fed leaves rates unchanged, warns of higher unemployment, inflation

Washington (dpa) - The US Federal Reserve on Wednesday announced its widely expected decision to leave interest rates unchanged, highlighting increased uncertainty about the economic outlook. In support of its dual goals of maximum employment and inflation at a rate of 2% over the longer run, the Fed said it decided to leave the target for the federal funds rate at 4.25% to 4.50% for the third straight meeting.
