EENHANA, 10 FEB (NAMPA) - Ohangwena Governor, Sebastian Ndeitunga, has described the late Founding President, Sam Nujoma, as a military strategist.
A devasted Ndeitunga told Nampa on Monday that Namibia had lost “a true statesman of calibre, a Pan-Africanist of high note, a leader of their revolution, a unifier and a man with eagle eyes.”
“Nujoma was a peacemaker and a person who led with a high level of discipline at all times,” he said.
He added that Africa will no longer have a world with stalwarts such as Nujoma, Robert Mugabe and their contemporaries, who stood firm for the liberation of Africa.
Ndeitunga indicated that he would forever cherish Nujoma’s teachings of bravery, hard work and hope for a better future for all, and particularly loyalty, which they carried throughout the liberation struggle to free Namibians from the hands of the oppressors.
Meanwhile, former Governor of the Ohangwena Region, Usko Nghaamwa, said the late Nujoma was the thread that united Namibians and his legacy should be cherished.
“Nujoma has done his part, and it is now up to us to continue the work of unifying Namibians,” he said, calling on leaders to shape themselves in Nujoma’s mould.
“Nujoma was somebody led by the Holy Spirit. He was like a prophet, an angel that came to awaken Namibians from the clutches of the oppressors. We were lucky to have had Nujoma, God’s chosen one, the light of the country,” he added.
Nujoma died on Saturday evening at the age of 95.
