WINDHOEK, 25 NOV (NAMPA) - Swapo Party presidential candidate, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has taken a swipe at those using their smartphones to insult the Swapo-led government.
She was speaking at the ruling party’s final Star Rally in Windhoek on Sunday, attended by scores of Swapo supporters at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
Nandi-Ndaitwah highlighted some of the developments she said were made possible by Swapo, including the usage of smartphones. According to her, 88 per cent of Namibians have access to network coverage and 450 000 Namibians are using smartphones in the present day.
“It is quite unfortunate that smartphones are now being abused. You are on a smartphone brought by the Swapo government and now someone says do not vote for Swapo, using the same smartphone that the Swapo party brought. You are complaining that your government has not done anything. You are able to talk to me in my house, condemning the same government that made all this possible. What a contradiction, what hypocrisy,” Nandi-Ndaitwah remarked.
She further said that currently, 90 per cent of Namibians in urban areas have access to potable water and 80 per cent of people in rural areas also have access to potable water.
In terms of radio coverage, she stressed, 93 per cent of Namibians have coverage, while 74 per cent Namibians have access to television.
“We are here to serve our people. Our government has identified the key areas of priority,” Nandi-Ndaitwah added.
The Swapo party manifesto, she reiterated, addresses economic growth, industrialisation, agriculture and water, natural resources management, infrastructure, youth empowerment and sports.
“The manifesto should be read together with my leadership vision so that we understand how we are going to make sure that this manifesto is fully implemented. In my leadership vision, I elaborated on programmatic leadership, integrity, and accountability among others,” Nandi-Ndaitwah maintained.
