NKURENKURU, 12 OCT (NAMPA) - The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) has arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the theft of electrical cables at Mavanze village in the Kavango West Region on Friday.
NamPol’s Inspector Raimbert Muronga reported that the incident occurred around 08h26, when the suspect allegedly jumped over a fence at the Theresia OVC Foundation Centre.
He then allegedly cut and stole a copper electrical wire without the owner’s consent before fleeing the scene.
The stolen copper wire, measuring 100 metres, was recovered and is valued at N.dollars 6 000.
According to Muronga, the suspect was arrested at Sharukwe village, where police found the electrical wire in his house, already burned and rolled, presumably to be sold.
The investigation is ongoing.
