Berlin (dpa) - A majority of Germans want Chancellor Friedrich Merz to resign after his Christian Democrats (CDU) suffered a heavy electoral defeat in two states at the weekend, according to a new poll released on Tuesday. A total of 55% of respondents questioned on behalf of broadcasters RTL/ntv said they would support Merz stepping down from his post, while 40% said they would like to see him continue at the helm.
