The Tunisian Court of Cassation on Thursday turned down the final appeal of dozens of opposition figures accused of plotting against the state, in a case activists condemned as political. This means sentences of up to 45 years in prison issued against the 34 defendants in November have been upheld, lawyer Haifa Chebbi told AFP.
