The Tunisian Court of Cassation began hearing on Thursday the final appeal of dozens of opposition figures accused of plotting against the state, in a case condemned as political by activists. In November, 34 defendants, many of them critics of President Kais Saied, were sentenced to up to 45 years in prison in an appeal trial, triggering sharp criticism from rights groups.
