Dutch health authorities said Thursday that nine cases of the mosquito-transmitted West Nile virus had been registered in recent weeks, having already reported one death from the disease. Several European countries have reported West Nile cases this year. The Netherlands' National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) said most of the cases had been diagnosed in hospitals.
