Berlin (dpa) - Financial losses from phone scams in which fraudsters impersonate police officers or relatives rose in Germany last year, data from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) showed. Losses from scams involving criminals posing as police officers rose to ?49.5 million ($57.2 million) in 2025 from ?30.1 million a year earlier, according to the BKA, citing police crime statistics.
