Amazon Q2 net sales rise 20 pct, net income surges

SAN FRANCISCO, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Amazon.com Inc. on Thursday reported net sales of 200.6 billion U.S. dollars for the second quarter, up 20 percent year over year. The Seattle-based e-commerce and cloud-computing giant posted quarterly net income of 62.6 billion dollars, or 5.75 dollars per diluted share, compared with 18.2 billion dollars, or 1.68 dollars per diluted share, in the same period last year.
