Boost for German consumers as lawmakers pass right to repair bill

Berlin (dpa) - German consumers are to enjoy the so-called right to repair for goods such as smartphones, washing machines and e-bikes. The EU directive, which aims to reduce electronic waste and strengthen consumer rights, passed on Friday in the upper house of the German parliament, the Bundesrat. The law will come into force in stages. The right to demand a repair from the manufacturer will apply from the end of July - including for devices......
