Tate & Lyle, the British food group with historic links to sugar refining, announced Monday that it had agreed to be bought by the US company Ingredion for £2.7 billion ($3.6 billion). The cash takeover comes after the companies revealed in May they were in talks about a combination that would see Tate & Lyle depart its London headquarters and the capital's stock market.
