A court in Mauritania has sentenced two opposition lawmakers to four years in jail for accusing the president of racial discrimination against black people and descendants of slaves in the west African country. The two women parliamentarians, Mariem Cheikh and Ghamou Achour, were accused of describing President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani on social media as the mentor of "apartheid in Mauritania".
