US Improving Cyprus Military Bases to Accommodate Broader Humanitarian Efforts - Reports

WASHINGTON, April 20 (RIA Novosti) - Military bases across Cyprus will be upgraded by the US military in order to accommodate large-scale regional humanitarian efforts, the Associated Press reported on Monday. The island's Evangelos Florakis naval base will be the site of a new US European Command-funded heliport capable of accommodating Chinook transport helicopters used to evacuate people out of conflict zones.
