MEFT announces restrictions into Deadvlei

The clay pan was formed after rainfall, when the Tsauchab river flooded, creating temporary shallow pools where the abundance of water allowed camel thorn trees to grow. When the climate changed drought hit the area and sand dunes encroached on the pan, which blocked the river from the area. WINDHOEK, 14 APR (NAMPA) – The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) on Tuesday announced that only two categories of operators will be authorised to provide shuttle services to Deadvlei in the Namib-Naukluft Park, effective 01 May 2026.
