The Maldives said Friday it had fully repaid a $500 million Islamic bond, easing fears of a sovereign default by the tiny Indian Ocean atoll nation. It repaid the principal along with a coupon payment of $24.68 million, fully settling the bond -- or "sukuk" -- raised in 2021, the Finance Ministry said in a statement. The International Monetary Fund last year warned Male to take "urgent and stronger" fiscal measures to salvage its troubled economy......
