KARASBURG, 21 MAR (NAMPA) - The Presidency has described Vice President Lucia Witbooi as one of Namibia’s “distinguished daughters” in a message issued in honour of the VP’s 64th birthday on Saturday.
The tribute highlighted Witbooi’s remarkable journey from her birthplace of Gibeon village in the Hardap Region to becoming the nation's second female vice president.
According to the statement, the VP’s life story stands as a “powerful reminder that leadership rooted in humility and service can shape the destiny of a nation.”
The Namibian nation reflects with pride and gratitude on her steadfast contributions to the struggle for independence and her continued dedication to the empowerment and emancipation of women, the Presidency said.
“Her humility, compassion, and deep sense of duty have distinguished her public service,” it added.
It further commended Witbooi’s ongoing work in championing the well-being of vulnerable members of society and advocating for the inclusion of minority communities in the mainstream of Namibia's economic and social life.
The message concluded by stating that her journey serves as proof to young Namibians, especially women and girls, that “leadership and service know no boundaries.”
Witbooi is in Karasburg in the //Kharas Region to preside over the national 36th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
