U.S. stocks close higher

NEW YORK, March 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.5 percent to 47,740.8. The S&P 500 added 0.83 percent to 6,795.99. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 1.38 percent to 22,695.95. Nine of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with technology and communication services leading the gainers by going up 1.80 percent and 1.13 percent, respectively.
