An Indigenous Colombian senator kidnapped Tuesday was recovered safe and sound after hours in captivity in a guerrilla-held area of the country, the country's defense minister said. Aida Quilcue, 53, was taken away around lunchtime in her home department of Cauca, in a conflict-ridden, coca-growing region controlled by dissidents of the now-disbanded FARC guerrilla army, according to President Gustavo Petro.
