EU Passes Regulation on Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 90% in 2040 - Statement

MOSCOW, February 10 (RIA Novosti) - The European Union passed on Tuesday a regulation that sees the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 90% in 2024 compared to 1990 levels, the European Parliament said in a press release. "Following a vote by Parliament, the EU will have to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 90% in 2040 compared with 1990 levels, to achieve a climate neutral EU by 2050," the press release said.
