Polling stations opened Sunday in Japan's snap elections for the lower house, with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's conservatives predicted to win a majority. Takaichi took office as Japan's first woman prime minister in October and called the snap vote in an attempt to capitalise on her early popularity.
