German bank customers panic after safety deposit box break-in

Dusseldorf (dpa) - Around 200 bank customers converged on a regional savings bank branch in the western German city of Gelsenkirchen on Monday after learning that thieves had broken into the bank's vault and ransacked a number of safety deposit boxes. Following repeated attempts to calm the situation, police cleared the bank's lobby after some of the customers became agitated, according to a dpa reporter at the scene.
