U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar strengthened in late trading on Monday. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.1 percent to 99.087 at 3 p.m. (2000 GMT). In late New York trading, the euro dropped to 1.1640 dollars from 1.1643 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.3327 dollars from 1.3334 dollars in the previous session.
