A Haitian gang leader who orchestrated the kidnapping of a group of American missionaries was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday, the Justice Department said. Germine Joly, 34, also known as "Yonyon," was found guilty by a federal jury in May of taking 16 Americans, including five children, hostage in October 2021 and holding most of them for two months.
