Voting commences in Ohangwena

OMHEDI, 26 NOV (NAMPA) - Voting has commenced at Omhedi Palace polling station in the Ohangwena Region for the Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections.
Presiding Officer, Lucia Mandume, said the elderly, disabled and pregnant women will be prioritised to vote first.
About 20 people showed up at the polling station in the early morning hours.
Kolele Kamati (70), who cast his vote at the Engela State Hospital polling station, told Nampa that he was already at the polling station by 5h00.
“It is important to vote. I woke up very early because I want my voice to be heard. I am voting because we need services. I am, therefore, encouraging everyone; young and old, to come out in numbers and vote. Do not be discouraged by long queues,” he said.
The presiding officer at Engela State Hospital polling station, Uria Shimweefeleni, said that by 7h40, about 30 people have cast their votes.
