OKAHANDJA, 02 NOV (NAMPA)- The Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia (ELCRN) on Sunday commissioned Abraham //Kheibeb as the church’s Bishop at a consecration ceremony held in Okahandja in the Otjozondjupa Region.
The event also marked the induction of Laurence Kuzatjike as his deputy and was attended by church leaders from across the country and abroad, including bishops from Ethiopia and South Africa.
In his first address as ELCRN leader, //Kheibeb expressed gratitude to his predecessors, tracing the church’s roots to the work of the Rhenish Missionary Society in the area from 1842 and noting its establishment as a distinct church in 1957.
//Kheibeb won the election with 2 256 votes in August 2025. According to reports, Sagues /Keib received 1 787 votes, and Kuzatjike received 1 023 votes. /Kheib subsequently withdrew from the contest. A total of 137 ballot papers were spoilt.
